Ten convicted of online harassment against Brigitte Macron

A Paris court has found guilty ten people for carrying out the digital intimidation of Brigitte Macron, the wife of the President of France, Emmanuel Macron.

The accused individuals faced accusations of circulating false claims regarding her gender and sexual orientation, in addition to making defamatory statements about the pair's age disparity of 24 years.

The court delivered suspended prison sentences of a maximum of eight months to the defendants. The detailed judgment has yet to be released.

A longstanding unfounded claim alleging that Brigitte Macron is a trans woman has spread widely since her husband's rise to the presidency in 2017.

This latest legal outcome in France coincides with the Macrons pursuing a defamation lawsuit in the United States of America against right-wing influencer Candace Owens, who has likewise promoted comparable unfounded claims about the Brigitte Macron's identity.

Their complaint states that Owens ignored all credible evidence that refuted her assertions opting to amplify the voices of notorious conspiracy peddlers.

Owens has regularly repeated these assertions on her podcast and social networks, and in March 2024 stated that she would bet her whole career on her conviction that Mrs. Macron was born a man.

Brigitte Macron originally became acquainted with her now-husband when she worked as an educator at his secondary school.

The pair entered into matrimony in 2007, when the future French president was 29 and she was in her mid-50s.
